The Washington County Board retained Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, Inc. to renovate & remodel the old Washington County Courthouse after the new Judicial Center was built.
Korte & Luitjohan completely gutted the 21,000 sq. ft. courthouse, which was built in 1844. All of the partition walls, floors, and ceilings were removed and replaced with new partition walls (over metal studs), new flooring (hardwood, carpet, ceramic tile, and terrazzo), and new ceilings. The entire electric, heating, and plumbing systems were replaced and a new fire protection sprinkler system was installed. The historic windows were rehabilitated to retain their original glass yet make them energy efficient. The existing elevator was upgraded and renovated.
The exterior was tuck pointed and new concrete steps, concrete ramps, and masonry finishes completed the ADA compliant and attractive entrance to the building.
“Congratulations on being selected as a finalist in the Keystone Awards. I know a lot of hard work and dedication went into this job. The courthouse is beautiful and I enjoy it every time I’m in there.”
