In 2014 Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, Inc., completed a full renovation of the 83-year-old, 17,000 sq ft, 3 floor, Six Mile Regional Library, located in Granite City, Illinois. The 8-month project consisted of new electric wiring and upgrades to the electric, water and sewer mains.  The Library enjoys reduced operating costs through the installation of new energy efficient furnaces, air conditioning, lighting, windows, doors and other energy control devices and upgrades.  Additional renovations include those made to all interior floors, walls, ceilings, and finishes. Other upgrades include those made to the fire and security systems, as well as masonry tuck pointing.  The basement and main floor received new public restrooms while new private restrooms were installed on the second floor for administration.

Two (2) new elevators were installed and a new ADA accessible ramp now provides access to the basement elevator, which travels to the main floor.  The rear elevator services all three floors.

The second floor now boasts a mezzanine, complete with reading lounge.  The basement houses a children’s area and 60-person capacity training event area and includes a family restroom.
