In May 2017, the City of O’Fallon selected Korte & Luitjohan (K&L) as the general contractor to build their new event destination, O’Fallon Station.
Constructed of steel with masonry exterior walls, the 3764 sq. ft. single-story building optimizes every inch of space. The design employs the use of six massive steel interior trusses to give the center of the building a peak at 25’ from floor to truss, with an additional 8’ clear-story addition at the top of the roof.
Ambient light floods the large gathering space from the windows that line the clear-story and four large retractable doors that line each side of the building. In good weather the doors can remain open to take advantage of both interior and exterior space. The large open-air space is ideally suited for farmer’s markets and other large events. The back quarter of the building houses two restrooms, a small side entrance lobby, and a utility room. A mezzanine covers this area to provide storage and an overlook for the main gathering area.
The use of highly efficient interior and exterior LED lighting and a radiant heating system that also employs the use of two large fans creates a very energy efficient building.
