Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, Inc., was retained by Illinois American Water Company (IAW) to provide design-build services for a new office and distribution center in Lincoln, Illinois. IAW had previously rented space in various locations for its office and distribution needs; however, with this new construction, the office, and all distribution requirements are combined in a convenient, single building.
Based on the success of the new office in Lincoln, IAW retained Korte & Luitjohan to provide design-build services for a similar new office and distribution center in Sterling, Illinois.
Both 8,974 sq ft masonry, wood, and steel buildings devote 3,238 sq ft to office space. This space serves primarily as a customer service area, but also includes conference and training rooms. The warehouses are used to store supplies, receive deliveries and provide indoor storage of trucks and equipment. Natural light provided by the skylights reduces lighting costs without compromising insulating efficiencies.
